First Bob sang it. He hit hard. Solidly. I listened to him whilst preparing longing sermons and watching the wind weathering the sand on the street seen from my window. And later this guy, Pete Seeger, honest human being to the bone, cemented it.
And then on a day in 1979, I uttered the words of the gurus, to those attending, when I walked out of my upbringing, my studies, my cemented future.
Freedom, and the gallows in one.
Thanks Jean-Paul, thanks Maurice, thanks Martin, thanks Camus, thank you Milan, thanks all you late night singers, you poets, you painters, you held, you are holding me up.
Thank you Joshua.
To stay forever young, longing the opening up of a humane day.
